SpiceJet Airlines is a low-cost Indian carrier based in Gurgaon, Haryana. The airline was established in 1994 as an air taxi provider called Modiluft. In 2004 the company was acquired by an Indian entrepreneur and renamed SpiceJet.

The origin of the airline can be traced back to 1984 when an Indian industrialist, S. K. Modi provided air taxi services. The airline operated its first flight in 2005. The primary operational hubs of the airline are in Delhi and Hyderabad.

The airline operates flights to 60 domestic and 13 international destinations. In 2010 after five years of operation, the airline was allowed to commence international flights. The airline has a codeshare agreement with Emirates and Gulf Air. The airline has moved away from the typical low-cost all-economy seating and offers premium services.

In 2015, the company launched its current logo called Red. Hot. Spicy. It is the fourth-largest airline in India in terms of the number of passengers flown.

SpiceJet Airlines operates a fleet of Boeing and Q-400s aircraft. The fleet comprises 4 Boeing 737-900 ER, 1 Boeing 737-900 Dual Class, 13 Boeing 737-MAX 8, 36 Boeing 737-800, 5 Boeing 737-700 and 32 Q-400.

The Boeing 737-MAX 8 is a state-of-the-art aircraft with fuel-efficient engines. The Q-400s are used for short-haul flights and are known for their fuel efficiency and comfort. The Boeing 737-700s, Boeing 737-800s and Boeing 737-900 ER are used for short to medium-haul flights as they are suitable for Indian conditions. The Boeing 737-900 ER allows 212, the Boeing 737-900 dual Class allows 189, the Boeing 737-MAX 8 allows 189, the Boeing 737-800 allows 186/189, the Boeing 737-700 allows 144/149 and Q-400 allows 78/90 passengers.

The airline offers an All-Economy class of seating on all its flights. The airline allows passengers to purchase premium services as required.

SpiceJet Airlines Baggage Allowance

The airline allows passengers to carry a piece of checked-in baggage weighing 15 kg and a handbag of 7 kg. The dimensions of the checked-in baggage should not exceed 158 cm (L+W+H). The maximum weight of a piece of checked-in baggage cannot exceed 32 kg. 

Passengers can carry one additional item like a laptop bag, ladies purse, duty-free shopping bags and more. The total weight of the cabin luggage should not exceed 7 kg. The dimensions of the handbag should not exceed the required limit.

SpiceJet Airlines Web Check-in and Boarding Pass

Passengers can web check-in through the airline’s website or the mobile app. Web check-in helps to avoid long queues at the airport and saves time.

Check-in SpiceJet Domestic Flights

SpiceJet web check-in is available post-booking to 60 minutes before the SpiceJet flight departure. For web check-in, passengers can go to the airline’s website and click the ‘Check-in’ tab. Enter the required details. On successful check-in boarding passes can be printed.

Check-in SpiceJet International Flights

Passengers can web check-in 48 hours to 75 minutes before the SpiceJet flight departure. To check in using the mobile app go to the ‘Check-in’ tab. Enter the required details. On successful check-in, the boarding pass can be sent to the device.

The in-flight entertainment system SpiceScreen streams the content on passenger’s mobile devices. Passengers can enjoy movies, podcasts, games and more. Passengers can also book cabs mid-air through the SpiceScreen app.

The SpiceScreen app allows passengers to shop online. Passengers can pre-book meals and beverages from the Sky Cafe. Passengers can purchase an extra seat or the entire row if required.
